It seems to be a misconception that your DJ shows up sometime during your reception and when you are ready to dance, he/she hits play and the music continues until 1am.
Consider how much of your wedding is put to music.
Your Ceremony includes:
Music playing softly as your guests arrive.
Music tells your guests when to sit and when the ceremony is starting. Music accompanies the bridal party and bride down the aisle.
Music is played as you sign the marriage license.
Music plays as you and your new spouse make your way back up the aisle, this time as Husband and Wife
Your Reception includes:
Music playing for your guests when they arrive at the venue (usually guests are there some time before the couple arrives)
Music lets your guests know when to be seated (or your DJ does)
The bride and groom have their Grand Entrance to music
Music is played softly throughout your dinner
Your First Dance, Father/Daughter, Son/Mother, Bridal Party dances Your Garter Toss and/or Bouquet Toss Your Cake Cutting
The entire dance portion of the evening (usually about 5 hours)
Music signals any special events, buffet, Anniversary dance, interaction etc.
As you can see, music plays a very important role in your wedding.
The fact is, your DJ plays a very important role in your wedding.
That is why you will hear, over and over, "use a professional" and "you get what you pay for."
One of the most frequently asked questions is "When will the DJ set up?" or "If the DJ sets up later will it save us money?" Our DJ will set up roughly 2 hours prior to your guests' arrival... whether or not you choose to use us for your cocktail and/or dinner music.
Your DJ will be on-site from set up to tear down because after 14 years and more than 1000 weddings we have learned that weddings do NOT always run on time.
In our opinion, it is unprofessional to have a DJ lugging equipment through your guests as they are enjoying the celebration. You may find a DJ company who will do this to save you a few dollars however, we will not.
Please remember that if your ceremony is in the same location/room as your reception the DJ will need to set up prior to your ceremony so as not to disrupt your guests!
